Highlights of the Tour

    Itinerary

Your adventure begins at 9 a.m. when your driver picks you up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. As you journey through the stunning High Atlas Mountains via the winding Tizi n'Tichka pass, you’ll be captivated by the dramatic landscapes and charming Berber villages. The first stop is the iconic Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its well-preserved adobe architecture. A local guide will take you through this historical ksar, sharing stories of its significance. After exploring, enjoy a traditional lunch in Ait Ben Haddou. Continuing south, you’ll pass through Ouarzazate, often dubbed “Morocco’s Hollywood,” before entering the lush Draa Valley. Follow the ancient caravan route along palm trees until you reach the desert town of Zagora. Here, you’ll have dinner and spend the night in a comfortable guesthouse, preparing for the desert adventures ahead.

After breakfast, your journey takes you deeper into the Sahara towards the nomadic village of M’hamid El Ghizlane. En route, stop at Tamegroute, famous for its pottery, where you can observe traditional crafting techniques and visit the historic Koranic Library. After a two-hour drive, you’ll arrive in M’hamid for lunch and some relaxation by the hotel pool. Following this, embark on an exhilarating off-road journey into the desert. After about 1.5 to 2 hours, you'll reach the magnificent Erg Chigaga dunes. The camels are ready to take you on a scenic ride around the dunes, and you’ll have the chance to try sandboarding. The tallest dunes here rise to 300 meters, offering breathtaking sunset views. Return to the camp for a refreshing shower and enjoy a sumptuous three-course dinner in the dining tent. In the evening, gather around the campfire for traditional music under the starry Sahara sky, and choose to sleep in a nomadic tent or outside beneath the stars.

After a hearty breakfast, set off for a thrilling day of off-road driving across the dried-up Lake Iriki. Stop to explore fossil sites along the way and follow the historic route of the Paris-Dakar rally. After about three hours of exhilarating terrain, you'll reach the town of Foum Zguid for refreshments. Continue your journey to Taznakht, the carpet capital of Morocco, where you’ll have lunch and witness Berber women showcasing their carpet-making skills. You’ll also have the opportunity to purchase exquisite handmade carpets. Next, drive through Taliouine, known for its saffron production, before arriving in Taroudant. Often called “Little Marrakech,” this town is surrounded by city walls and is famous for its local crafts and bustling souks. Enjoy dinner and overnight at a cosy guesthouse.

Begin your day with breakfast at the guesthouse, then choose between two options: explore Taroudant independently before rejoining your driver or continue the journey to Essaouira after breakfast. If you opt to continue, drive for about an hour to Agadir and then follow the scenic coastal road to Essaouira, which will take around 2 to 2.5 hours. Upon arrival, your tour concludes. Essaouira is a delightful coastal town known for its blue-and-white architecture, vibrant fish market, and rich artistic heritage. Stroll through its fortified medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and enjoy stunning views from the ramparts. The harbour bustles with blue fishing boats and lively seagulls, and the souk is perfect for browsing local crafts, including exquisite marquetry. Take some time to relax on the beach, watching surfers and kiters before indulging in a meal of freshly caught seafood by the harbour or at a local restaurant of your choice. This four-day tour promises an unforgettable exploration of Morocco’s diverse landscapes, rich culture, and the unique beauty of the Sahara Desert.
