Itinerary
Your adventure begins with a 9 AM departure, where your driver/guide will pick you up from your hotel or riad. As you set off, marvel at the beautiful Skoura Oasis, dotted with ancient kasbahs amidst lush palm trees. Continue through the Valley of Roses to the village of Kelaa M’gouna, where we’ll stop for refreshing Berber tea while enjoying stunning views of the valley. Next, drive along the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs towards the breathtaking Dades Gorge. Experience the sensational landscape as you traverse the red Atlas Mountains, passing through charming Berber villages, green valleys, and pink rose gardens (especially vibrant in spring). Each village features its red-coloured kasbah or ksar and a mosque. Lunch will be enjoyed at a local restaurant en route. Afterwards, take a leisurely walk along Boumalne Dades Valley before heading to a guesthouse in Todra Gorge for the night. Explore the majestic Todra Gorge, a massive canyon where a 300-meter-deep vault splits the orange limestone into a striking ravine. The drive through the gorge offers awe-inspiring views.
After breakfast, take a morning stroll through the palm groves of Tinghir before we head towards the Merzouga dunes. The journey takes you through the scenic Ziz Valley and the oasis of Tafilalet, one of the largest oases in the world, famous for its luscious dates. Arrive in the oasis town of Erfoud for lunch. In the afternoon, continue to Merzouga, where your camels await for a two-hour ride into the Sahara Desert. Climb atop the Erg Chebbi dunes to witness a breathtaking sunset over the endless sands. After your camel ride, enjoy a delicious dinner served at the desert camp. Spend the evening under a star-filled sky, and choose to sleep in a nomad tent or outdoors.
Rise early for a return camel ride to the hostel in Merzouga for a refreshing shower and breakfast. We’ll continue our journey in a comfortable 4×4 vehicle, heading towards the Draa Valley, renowned for its dates, and then make our way back to Ouarzazate. On this route, pass through the villages of Rissani, Alnif, Tazzarine (famous for its appearance in the film "Babel"), and the historic village of N’Kob. Stop for lunch in N’Kob before continuing along the palm-lined Draa Valley, following the ancient caravan routes. Admire numerous ancient kasbahs, including the well-known Tamnougalte. As we approach Adgz, we’ll transition onto a paved road. After crossing the Anti-Atlas Mountains and Tizi n Tinfifite (1,660 m), we’ll arrive in Ouarzazate by the end of the day.
